SOCIAL DIMENSION

In this dimension, the information related to topics that are vital and that affect society as a whole is compiled, especially those aspects that determine and characterize the quality of life of the inhabitants in a territory. Priority has been given to those fields over which the State has the responsibility and the capacity to intervene to improve conditions for the different social groups. This dimension collects the territorial expression of the achievements obtained with the execution of the basic functions of the State and the social services it provides in order to guarantee the homogeneous distribution of the opportunities on which prosperity can be based.

Analysis Process Considered in the Social Dimension

In the Social Dimension, data is presented on the aspects that have the greatest impact on the quality of life of social groups. The information considered is classified as: i) quality of life, ii) health and social security, iii) education, iv) public services and v) displaced population. In the quality of life, the information on unsatisfied basic needs (UBN) is presented for each of the UERs at the local level present in the region, differentiated according to heading - rest. The calculation of this indicator is made by DANE based on census information using data from inadequate housing, housing with critical overcrowding, housing with inadequate services, housing with high economic dependence and housing with school-age children who do not attend school. With the help of these simple indicators, we can identify if the basic needs of the population are being covered.
