Program Description:
Its objective is to model and predict the impacts of natural and anthropic disturbances that affect the biological, social and ecological reality, in order to guide the decisions of international, national, regional and local actors in the Colombian Amazon. It has three lines of work: Models of climate change in the Amazon: vulnerability, adaptability and mitigation; and environmental information management.
From this program, the "SINCHI" Institute advances actions in environmental monitoring on changes in land cover, socio-environmental pressures affecting the region and, in the degradation of landscapes; it also works ecological restoration processes of degraded landscapes; Zoning and environmental management of the territory; and it coordinates the Territorial Environmental Information System of the Colombian Amazon SIAT-AC. It participates in national processes such as: ecosystem map, land use conflict map, land cover map, Colombian Space Commission CCEE, Colombian Spatial Data Infrastructure ICDE.
