Regarding the specific representativeness at the order level, the Characiformes group includes the largest number of families and species, 19 and 233 respectively, followed by Siluriformes (13 and 146), Gymnotiformes (5 and 20) and Perciformes (3 and 34); while the Pleuronectiformes, Synbranchiformes and Tetraodontiformes (1 family, 1 species), Beloniformes (1 family and 2 species) and Myliobatiformes (1 and 7) are the less represented.
In terms of families, the Characidae groups the largest number of species and individuals (87 and 4431 respectively), followed by Loricariidae (39 and 465), Curimatidae (31 and 710), Cichlid (31 and 474), Pimelodidae (28 and 171), Doradidae (18 and 168) and Anostomidae (18 and 127).
