GEOGRAPHICAL REPRESENTATIVENESS

 


CIACOL is home to 60% of the species reported in the latest list of fish for the hydrographic area of the Colombian Amazon (Bogota - Gregory and Maldonado - Ocampo 2006). 41% of the species collected come from the Amazon sub-basin, 38% from the Putumayo sub-basin and 37% from the Caquetá sub-basin.

In the case of the sub-basins of Vaupes and Guainia - Negro, the 2006 national list only records 24 and 22 species respectively, well below CIACOL records.
